Positive Progression is a
non-profit organization founded in 1989. Founder Katy Mc Dowell is an
RRW with over 18 years experience in helping families in crisis. Tony
Norman is the founding Program Director who has over 30 years experience
in the field of Addiction Treatment and is a Registered Addiction
Specialist. Together they formed Positive Progression Treatment. We
found many people who were relapsing needed a transitional place with
less structure to be successful in their recovery. Since traditional
treatment is 30 days, most addicts are not even fully detoxed and faced
with a new, challenging future without drugs or alcohol and even family
or friends. This transition is can be scary, lonely and difficult, and
often leads to relapse.
Positive Progression is a unique,
female-only environment dedicated to helping those recovering from the
disease of alcohol and drug addiction. Our Mission is to provide the
highest quality of affordable sober living to individuals who are in
need and serious about recovery. We provide a faith-based recovery
environment, and since we are also a licensed treatment center, we are
able to provide a clinical, therapeutic component that most other sober
living homes cannot.
We offer a comfortable and peaceful
environment in a safe neighborhood. Our homes are clean and inviting,
secure and alcohol/drug free. For women who are starting over we provide
a nice, clean home and operate as a close knit family. We do not admit
more than 6 residents which keeps outside distractions and pressures at
a minimum. Ours is an adult program for ages 18 & up and offers
minimal structure, thereby requiring accountability & continued

WELCOME TO: "Serene Center Sober Living/Transitional Housing"
Serene
Center is a continued care transitional sober living community for
alcoholics and addicts in early recovery that wish to transition into a
fulfilling lifestyle without cravings for addictive substances. We help
people help themselves through certified therapy, education, and
balanced center living guidance. We combine a sober living community
with outpatient counseling services targeting relapse prevention.
The
certified therapy incorporated into the transitional sober living
program provides the clinical expertise to help guide the Patient
through life’s stresses and manage their thought processes differently.
The Counselor is able to help the Patient realize behaviors associated
with relapse warning signs and construct new thought processes around
situations and circumstances that, in the past, have led to the
unhealthy thoughts associated with the relapse process and eventual use
of alcohol and drugs. This type of counseling is very different from
anything one can find inside a self-help program such as a twelve-step
program: and the clinical component of a recovery program is absolutely
critical for increasing the likelihood of long-term recovery.
The
education component of the transitional sober living program helps the
Patient learn and/or re-learn important life skills that are necessary
for everyday life. Subjects such as building a balanced budget,
negotiating a healthy relationship with family and friends, nutrition,
and stress management are made available on an individualized basis for
every Patient.
The balanced center living guidance provided by
the transitional sober living program helps the Patient to develop
healthy habits with regard to health, intention, spirituality, prudence,
accurate-thought, love and self-efficacy. When combined with the
accountability of drug testing every three days, a real sense of

Living AZ have several years of sobriety between them and are
tremendously grateful to have been given the opportunity to live in a
sober living house. We know what it takes to run a safe and successful
house where the formula for long term sobriety starts with a structured
and honest program. We have both grown along spiritual lines because of
our commitment towards the fellowship of AA and service work. Let us

MOVING IN -
What's Expected of You...
When you come into the house the first
time, you'll be tested for drugs and alcohol and asked to fill out the
intake forms. You will meet your resident house manager and fellow
housemates in recovery. Another resident, probably the senior resident,
will acquaint with your new home and the way it works.
Residents
must attend 12-step meetings daily and be actively working the steps
with a sponsor of your choice. All houses are walking distance to
meetings and to public transportation. Thursday night is the mandatory
house meeting. This is where you will begin to see and understand what
the house is about. Residents talk about their week, bring up any house
issues they may have and talk about all things related to your recovery.
It’s a private forum, designed ONLY for housemates, where everything
said and heard in that room does not leave the house. We must always
respect each other’s confidentiality and anonymity.
